Aquarium Design – The Art of Presentation
Friday, August 27th, 2010
There are many reasons to create and design your very own aquarium. A beautifully designed aquarium will surely be an artistic and elegant touch to your current d?cor. Spending time to notice the fish as they agilely float through the water has even been shown to lower blood pressure. If you are serious about creating an exquisite display for your tropical fish, follow my tips below.
1. The first thing you will need to do is decide on the fish you would like to purchase. Different species require different equipment and care, so you will need to do plenty of research if you want to be a responsible pet owner, which I assume you do.
2. Once you’ve decided on the fish type, you will need to go out and sift through the many styles and varieties of fish tanks at your local pet shop. You’ll want an interesting aquarium to house your fish, so you may want to look online for more diverse options. Also make sure to stock up on additional supplies such as an filter, a heater and a thermometer.
3. Next you will need to purchase decorations for your tank. This is where your inner artist can really escape in the design. Everything from the plants you choose to the rocks you select will really make a difference in the aesthetic appeal. Aim for symmetry in your design, as it is almost always visually appealing. If you aren’t confident in your design skills, you may want to purchase an aquarium design book before you begin.
4. Once you set up your tank and you’ve placed your fish into the tank, do not neglect cleaning it on a weekly basis. Nothing can ruin the aesthetic appeal of a beautifully designed tank more than built-up grime and waste. Your fish and your home deserve better, so be responsible and meticulous.
